Scholarship Description
The Delta State Government offers its state-sponsored Government Scholarship Scheme for female students of Nigerian origin.

Applications are invited for five places in the Delta State Government Scholarship Scheme for female students, tenable at School of Media and Communication (SMC), Pan-African University, for the PGD in Media & Communication (Journalism Stream) and MSc in Media and Communication (Writing for the Media stream).

Eligibility
Admission requirements:
  • 5 credit passes at O’level
  • University degree /HND in any discipline
  • Academic Transcript to be submitted before the end of August
  • NYSC Certificate/Exemption
Eligible groups
Nigerian citizens of Delta State origin

Fields of study
Postgraduate Diploma level courses in the following areas:
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Multimedia Journalism
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Community Relations
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Media (Design, Production & Management)
Number of awards
Five (5) offers are usually given every year

Sponsorship duration
It will last for 12 months (2 Semesters & 3-month internship)

Scholarship benefits
The scholarship covers tuition fees and study materials only

Method of Application
You must apply for admission to the part time PGD in Media and Communication (Journalism stream) OR MSc in Media and Communication (Writing for the Media stream) programmes (August 2014 entry) in order to partake in the scholarship. You must download and fill in the Scholarship Application Form as found on the official website (you may download the form here). You may also download the Transcript request form and Referee request form (two referees required) from the official website (link to it is below) to begin processing.

DEADLINES:
Application period and Oral interview is from 19 January, 2014 to 30 June, 2014.
Scholarship Application Deadline is June 5th, 2014.

PLEASE NOTE:
The School of Media and Communication has evolved directly from the Centre for Media and Communication. The CMC was instituted in 2006 by the Pan-Atlantic University Council in recognition of the critical role of this sector in shaping societal values and cultural life. No less important, the contribution of the creative industries to economic growth and the GDP is gaining recognition as well.

Specifically, the establishment of the School of Media and Communication is informed by the aspiration to train professionals in this area of culture who would uphold the highest intellectual, ethical and professional values that promote creativity, critical knowledge, technical perfection, social responsibility, and the spirit of enterprise. The School’s programmes will prepare students for careers in the creative industries, in business generally, and in various public and private domains.

The primary goal of the School of Media and Communication is the formation of media and communication professionals, to enable them pursue their calling of service to human cultures with a sense of creativity, skill, knowledge and values. The School contributes through its expertise to the professional excellence of the creative industries in Nigeria and the continent of Africa.
